GSM Wireless Alarm Systems

GSM wireless alarm systems offer your business many benefits over a conventional hardwired set-up. If you have a conventional alarm, the first thing an intruder is going to do is cut the wires.

When you buy most alarm systems, you are also purchasing a monitoring service. This does little more than contact the keyholders when the alarm is activated. If you want the police on the scene, you have to pay extra for the monitoring service to notify them of a problem.

With a GSM wireless alarm system, this expensive and essentially useless step is bypassed. When an alarm is triggered, you will receive both a text message and a telephone call. Some GSM systems will allow you to listen in remotely to your premises to help you make an informed decision about how to respond to the situation.

When installing a wireless alarm system, you will need to make several decisions:

How many sensors do you need?
Wireless alarm systems work by sensing motion and then sending a signal to the control panel. The control panel then initiates the programmed action. Sensors are best placed around points of access, i.e., windows, doors, etc.

Do you want a panic button?
This is useful if you want your staff to be able to discretely summon the emergency services.

Do you want a smoke detector?
These are useful for stopping fires before they start.

How do you want the system to be armed and disarmed?
Keypad, automatic arming, text message, remote control, etc.

Are there pets or children on the premises?
This is a consideration if your residence is located on the same site as your pub, shop, etc. You do not want the alarm to be triggered if the cats get frisky or one of your teenagers stumbles downstairs in the middle of the night for a snack or soft drink.
